Lower Milford Township

Local Real EstateTax Rates in Lower Milford Among the Highest in Lehigh County

Lower Milford Township raised its local real estate tax to 3 mils. This is a 50% rise in local real estate taxes from their historical 2 mil tax rate. This makes Lower Milford Township the highest taxed small township in Lehigh County. The only higher millage rates are for large townships. A statistical analysis of tax rates shows that for a township of the size of Lower Milford Township, the tax rate should be about 1 mil. This means that the township levies about a quarter million dollars over what it should charge.

Local Real Estate Tax Rate in Lehigh County
The Lower Milford Township local tax rate increase of 1 mil is not levied on farms that are preserved. This means that these farms are getting a 50% tax break over other families paying their "fair share".

As a point of reference, a Township can have a local tax rate of 14 mils. Three(3) mils can be allocated to  the Fire Company.

Lower Milford Supervisors have attempted to separate this 1 mil raise as a Fire Tax. No other Township in Lehigh County does this. The only townships that have a tax that is given to a private group is those in the Parkland School District. They allocate 0.3 mils to the library.
